异步接口模块为Cisco®4000系列集成服务路由器（ISR）提供高密度终端服务器功能。单个平台最多可支持200个终端服务器连接，比Cisco ISR G2支持的多8个。
异步接口模块提供为网络接口模块（NIM）和高密度服务模块（SM）（图1）。

Due to the compact connector placement on the NIM-24A, only the new cable type CAB-ASYNC-8 with slimmer housing is supported in the lower and middle sockets
